WARDOGS has taken the top spot among paid games on Steam for the week of September 8 through September 15, giving BULKHEAD’s new multiplayer shooter another major launch milestone. SteamDB’s latest weekly revenue chart places WARDOGS ahead of Halloween: The Game, Bodycam, The Blood of Dawnwalker and How to Fish when free-to-play releases are excluded. The result covers the game’s first five days on sale after entering Steam Early Access on September 10.

The ranking represents a substantial jump from the previous week, when WARDOGS placed third among paid Steam sellers while still available for pre-purchase. That earlier chart was led by The Blood of Dawnwalker, followed by Onimusha: Way of the Sword. WARDOGS has now moved ahead following its full Early Access launch and the surge of players that accompanied it.

Steam’s weekly charts are ordered by revenue rather than copies sold, so the No. 1 position does not mean WARDOGS necessarily moved more individual units than every other game during the period. Its standard edition is priced at $39.99 in the United States, giving each sale considerably more weight than lower-priced games on the chart. Even so, the ranking reinforces the unusually strong commercial start already reported by BULKHEAD.

The developer announced shortly after launch that WARDOGS had sold 1.25 million copies during its first day. Demand was high enough to create severe server congestion, with players encountering login queues, connection problems and difficulty joining matches. BULKHEAD subsequently released hotfixes and carried out additional maintenance as it increased capacity and worked through launch-day issues.

Player numbers continued climbing after that initial rush. SteamDB recorded an all-time peak of more than 428,000 concurrent players on September 13, placing WARDOGS among Steam’s most-played games during its opening weekend. The game’s Steam user reception also recovered as server conditions improved, after early technical complaints had initially pushed reviews downward.

WARDOGS is a 100-player tactical multiplayer FPS built around three competing teams fighting for control of a shifting objective zone. Matches take place across large destructible environments and combine infantry combat with vehicles, logistics and an in-game cash economy. Players earn money through both combat and support actions, then use those funds to purchase weapons, equipment and other resources during a match.

The unusual economy is designed to reward team-oriented behavior alongside direct kills. Healing, reviving, spotting enemies and transporting teammates can all generate income, while players can also tip or financially reward others for useful actions. Equipment carries a cost, giving deaths an economic consequence and encouraging players to think about how much they invest into each deployment.

BULKHEAD launched WARDOGS as an Early Access title and expects development to continue for roughly one to two years. The studio has outlined plans for additional maps, weapons, vehicles and objective types alongside expanded progression systems, Player Skills, Challenges and broader seasonal mechanics. Those plans remain largely undated, with the team focusing first on stabilizing the launch build and responding to player feedback.

Its first-week commercial performance also comes against strong competition from several recent releases. Halloween: The Game placed second among paid titles for September 8-15, followed by Bodycam in third and The Blood of Dawnwalker in fourth. How to Fish completed SteamDB’s top five paid games for the period.

The result extends an already rapid rise for WARDOGS. Before release, the shooter had accumulated more than one million Steam wishlists and reached third place in the previous weekly paid-sales chart entirely through pre-orders. Moving into first place after launch, alongside more than a million first-day sales and hundreds of thousands of concurrent players, gives BULKHEAD a notably strong opening for a game that is still at the beginning of its Early Access roadmap.
