Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will get a new campaign trailer during Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast on September 17. Activision confirmed that a new look at the single-player campaign will debut during the presentation, which begins at 7 PM JST, or 3 AM PT and 6 AM ET. The reveal gives Modern Warfare 4 another major showcase roughly a month before its October 23 launch.
The Xbox Tokyo Game Show broadcast was previously announced for September 17, with Microsoft promising new gameplay and content from games coming to the platform. Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast will be streamed through official Xbox and Tokyo Game Show channels. Microsoft had already confirmed Modern Warfare 4 as part of its presence at the event, but Activision has now specifically identified the campaign as receiving a new trailer during the show.
Modern Warfare 4’s story centers on a large-scale conflict erupting on the Korean Peninsula after North Korea launches a full invasion. One side of the campaign follows Private Park, a young South Korean soldier experiencing combat for the first time, while Captain Price operates outside the system on a separate mission. Infinity Ward says the two storylines eventually intersect as the conflict expands beyond Korea.

The campaign will take players through several international locations and different styles of combat. Activision has confirmed trench warfare in Korea, close-quarters fighting in New York, vehicle chases through Paris, SAS night operations in Mumbai and larger urban assaults designed around reclaiming occupied territory. The upcoming Tokyo Game Show trailer could provide a closer look at some of those scenarios, although Activision has not detailed exactly which mission or characters will appear.
Players have already been able to sample one campaign mission through Modern Warfare 4’s beta. “Entrenched” placed players alongside infantry and armored vehicles during an assault intended to prevent a strategically important nuclear power station from falling into enemy hands. It marked the first time a complete campaign mission had been included in a Call of Duty beta, giving Infinity Ward an opportunity to expose players to the game’s campaign systems before launch.
The new trailer also arrives after the multiplayer beta gave Activision a large-scale test of Modern Warfare 4’s competitive modes. Circana engagement data later showed the Modern Warfare 4 beta ranking behind Black Ops 7 and Warzone on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox in the United States. That data reflects weekly engagement rather than total player counts, but it gives additional context to Activision’s continued promotional push ahead of release.
Modern Warfare 4 is currently scheduled to launch on October 23 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC through Steam, Battle.net and Xbox on PC. Digital pre-orders include campaign early access beginning October 16, allowing players to complete the single-player story one week before multiplayer and the new DMZ experience become fully available.
Activision is also preparing the broader Call of Duty ecosystem for the game’s arrival. On September 17, Black Ops 7 and Warzone installations will undergo a significant content reorganization, with existing packages being repacked ahead of Modern Warfare 4. The Call of Duty file restructuring is expected to require a larger-than-usual update initially but reduce the total storage footprint once completed.
The timing makes September 17 an unusually busy day for Call of Duty. Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 06 launch on the same date, the franchise’s installation structure begins preparing for Modern Warfare 4, and Infinity Ward’s campaign receives its next major trailer through the Xbox showcase.
The Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast begins September 17 at 7 PM JST, corresponding to 3 AM PT, 6 AM ET and 11 AM in the UK. Modern Warfare 4’s new campaign trailer will debut during the presentation, ahead of campaign early access on October 16 and the full game launch on October 23.
