SULFUR, the first-person roguelike shooter from developer Perfect Random, reaches version 1.0 today, October 28, 2026, ending its two-year Steam Early Access period. The full release also brings the game to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time.
The multiplatform launch marks a major milestone for the indie shooter, which originally entered Steam Early Access in October 2024. Perfect Random confirmed the release plans through official Steam announcements on October 8 and October 20, outlining the completed game progression, expanded enchantment system and improvements included in version 1.0.
SULFUR combines fast-paced first-person combat with roguelike progression, inventory management and survival mechanics. Players explore hostile environments, fight enemies, collect equipment and decide which resources to carry into dangerous areas. Death carries significant consequences, making weapon selection, equipment preparation and resource management important parts of each expedition.

The game features more than 60 firearms, hundreds of loot items, multiple environments, bosses and quests. Weapons can be modified with attachments, oils and enchantments, while a cooking system allows players to prepare meals that help them survive subsequent encounters.
Version 1.0 completes the game’s progression from beginning to end, allowing players to experience the full adventure rather than the unfinished Early Access campaign. However, Perfect Random clarified that the release does not introduce additional areas for returning players who have already explored the existing environments.
One of the main additions is the completed enchantment system, which expands the available combinations with five new combined enchantments: Snowman Head, Water Bomb, Mud Ball, Evil Seed and Teslacold.
The update also introduces a quest log, giving players an in-game way to track their current objectives. Previously, keeping track of certain tasks could require players to maintain their own notes.
Beyond the new features, Perfect Random has continued adjusting weapon and equipment balance, refining progression and improving controls and the user interface. Version 1.0 also includes performance optimizations, bug fixes and other quality-of-life changes intended to improve the overall experience.
The simultaneous console release expands SULFUR’s availability across both current-generation and previous-generation hardware. Nintendo’s official store listings confirm separate Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 editions, each scheduled for October 28.
The launch follows a significant commercial milestone. On October 20, Perfect Random announced that SULFUR had surpassed 500,000 copies sold ahead of its full release.
Despite reaching version 1.0, SULFUR remains a single-player experience. Perfect Random explicitly confirmed that multiplayer will not be included at launch, although the studio intends to work on it as a potential post-release update. No release window has been announced.
The developer also plans to continue supporting the game with free updates, including additional firearms, improvements and other content. Paid downloadable content remains a possibility, but no DLC has been formally announced.
SULFUR’s transition to a completed release comes during a busy period for independent games expanding beyond their original platforms. Other recent releases include The Outlast Trials arriving on Nintendo Switch 2, while Mouthwashing expands to additional consoles on October 29.
With the full campaign now complete and six console platforms joining PC, SULFUR’s October 28 release makes the finished roguelike shooter available to a substantially wider audience.
