World of Horror has received its largest content update yet, with the free As Below So Above expansion launching on PC on October 30, 2026. Publisher Ysbryd Games and developer Panstasz confirmed that version 1.2 increases the cosmic-horror RPG’s content by approximately 20%, introducing new playable characters, Old God manifestations, mysteries, enemies and a dedicated Scenario Mode. The update is available through Steam, GOG and itch.io, while PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch players will receive it in 2027.
The expansion introduces two new Old God manifestations that change how players experience the game’s supernatural threats. IKT-YOSIS, The First Nightmare, resides beneath the mountains, where rituals performed to awaken it gradually transform the surrounding world and produce unusual weather conditions. The second manifestation, The War for Shiokawa, involves four competing cults simultaneously attempting to summon their respective eldritch entities.
Three additional playable characters expand the available approaches to surviving Shiokawa’s mysteries. Kiriko is a tarotist whose cards influence the town’s fate, while Satoshi is a hiker familiar with the surrounding mountains. The third character, Makoto, is a member of the school’s audiovisual club who features prominently in the update’s new narrative content.

One of the expansion’s most substantial additions is Scenario Mode, which introduces standalone stories taking place before the events of the main game. These scenarios provide additional background to the setting while connecting previously separate mysteries.
The Forest of Fear / Tapes of Tragedy scenario follows Makoto as he attempts to produce a documentary investigating an old legend associated with the forest. Unlike the main campaign’s broader investigation structure, the new mode offers individual stories focused on specific events and characters.
Beyond the narrative additions, As Below So Above introduces new events, enemies, mysteries, items, spells, curses and injuries. Ysbryd Games also confirmed a substantial collection of quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes, although the announcement does not provide a complete breakdown of every individual adjustment.
Steam Workshop support has also been expanded, giving players additional tools for creating and customizing enemies, events and mysteries. These changes broaden the game’s existing modding capabilities and provide more options for community-created content.
World of Horror is a retro-styled cosmic-horror RPG built around investigating supernatural incidents in the Japanese town of Shiokawa. Its monochrome, pixel-art presentation draws inspiration from classic horror manga, while its gameplay combines turn-based encounters, exploration and decision-making.
The update arrives amid continued activity in the independent horror genre, including the recent console release of Mouthwashing and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 version of R.E.P.O. in 2027.
As Below So Above is free for existing World of Horror owners on PC. Ysbryd Games has confirmed that console players will also receive the update without additional charge in 2027, but an exact release date has not been announced. The base game remains available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
