New gameplay footage of Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux has provided an early look at how the upgraded games perform on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Both titles received free next-generation updates on October 29, 2026, introducing enhanced visuals and higher frame-rate options. The footage suggests that Xbox Series X players can choose between 60fps and 120fps modes, while Xbox Series S targets approximately 1080p at 60fps.
The gameplay videos come from YouTube channel Fuzion Xbox Testing, which captured footage of the updated games running on Microsoft’s current-generation consoles. The recordings offer preliminary performance observations beyond the official technical specifications announced by developer 4A Games and publisher Deep Silver.
On Xbox Series X, Metro 2033 Redux offers two graphics modes with 4K output. The 60fps mode uses native 4K rendering, while the 120fps option relies on upscaling. Although the 60fps mode generally targets its advertised frame rate, the footage suggests occasional drops into the 50fps range and, in some sections, the 40s.

Interestingly, the 120fps mode appears comparatively stable in the available footage. However, these observations come from limited gameplay recordings rather than comprehensive performance benchmarks, so they do not establish how consistently either mode performs throughout the entire campaign.
Xbox Series S delivers a different experience, with Metro 2033 Redux appearing to operate at approximately 1080p and 60fps. The footage suggests that frame rates remain relatively consistent, although further testing would be necessary to establish performance across more demanding environments.
Metro Last Light Redux shows similar technical options on Xbox Series X, including native 4K at 60fps and upscaled 4K at 120fps. Initial footage suggests that both modes maintain their target frame rates more consistently than those in Metro 2033 Redux.
The Xbox Series S version of Metro Last Light Redux also appears to target 1080p at 60fps, with the available gameplay recordings indicating generally stable performance. Neither game’s preliminary results should be treated as definitive measurements of rendering resolution or sustained frame rates.
The performance findings follow the release of the free Metro Redux next-generation update, which introduced graphical improvements across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
According to 4A Games, the update improves lighting, shadows, particle effects, animations and audio quality while adding modern rendering features. Xbox Series X supports temporal super-resolution (TSR) upscaling and antialiasing, helping deliver the higher-output-resolution performance mode. Xbox consoles also receive spatial audio support, Impulse Trigger functionality and additional hardware optimizations.
The distinction between the two Xbox Series X graphics modes is important. Although both can output a 4K image, the 120fps option uses upscaling rather than rendering every frame at native 4K. Players also need a compatible 120Hz television or monitor to benefit from the higher frame-rate option.
Both Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux are available with their next-generation enhancements at no additional charge for eligible existing owners. The Xbox versions also support Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing compatible digital purchases to be played across supported Xbox consoles and Windows devices.
For Xbox Series X owners, the initial footage suggests that the new performance modes offer a choice between native 4K image quality and smoother 120fps gameplay. Xbox Series S players receive a more modest resolution target, but early recordings indicate that both games can deliver a generally consistent 60fps experience. More extensive independent testing will be needed to determine whether these results hold across both campaigns.
