ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has officially announced the availability of its ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace and ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace gaming monitors on October 28, 2026. The two 24.5-inch Full HD displays feature refresh rates of 720Hz and 540Hz, respectively, targeting competitive PC gamers who prioritize motion clarity and responsiveness.
The announcement follows the monitors’ earlier unveiling at Gamescom 2026, where ASUS confirmed their specifications and expected early-Q4 release window. Both models use TrueBlack Glossy Tandem WOLED technology, bringing OLED panels to a display category traditionally dominated by high-refresh-rate TN monitors.
ASUS previously announced US suggested retail prices of $1,099 for the 720Hz PG259QWS Ace and $699 for the 540Hz XG259QWPG Ace. Its latest press release confirms availability but does not specify regional shipping dates or updated retail pricing.

Both monitors feature 1920 × 1080 resolution, a manufacturer-rated 0.02ms gray-to-gray response time, and peak HDR brightness of up to 1,700 nits. ASUS also specifies 99.5% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, true 10-bit color and a typical contrast ratio of 1,500,000:1.
Their Tandem WOLED panels use two stacked light-emitting layers. Compared with conventional WOLED technology, ASUS claims this design delivers up to 31% higher brightness, 34% greater color volume and 63% longer lifespan. These improvements are manufacturer claims rather than independently verified measurements of the new monitors.
The flagship ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace offers a native 720Hz refresh rate alongside DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 connectivity, supporting up to 80Gbps of bandwidth. It also includes two HDMI 2.1 ports with 48Gbps connectivity.
An exclusive Position Sensor allows users to display monitor tilt angles, height and viewing distance on-screen. The feature is intended to help professional players reproduce their preferred display positioning when moving between practice environments and tournament venues.
ASUS has also confirmed that the PG259QWS Ace will serve as the official monitor of the PGL Counter-Strike 2 Major Singapore 2026, which the company describes as the first Counter-Strike Major to use OLED displays.
The less expensive ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace uses the same 24.5-inch Tandem WOLED panel technology but operates at 540Hz instead of 720Hz. It retains the claimed 0.02ms response time, 1,700-nit peak HDR brightness and 99.5% DCI-P3 coverage.
The main connectivity difference is DisplayPort 1.4 with Display Stream Compression (DSC), rather than the flagship’s DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 connection. The Strix model also includes two HDMI 2.1 ports but lacks the PG259QWS Ace’s dedicated Position Sensor.
Both monitors support variable refresh rate (VRR) technology and ASUS Extreme Low Motion Blur (ELMB). They also include three Esports Color Modes with presets designed for competitive shooters such as Counter-Strike 2, PUBG and VALORANT.
Additional configuration features include measurement markings on the stand and base, a Quick OSD menu for adjusting display settings, and a six-axis Hue Optimizer for customizing color presentation. These controls are designed to help players maintain consistent settings across different gaming environments.
ASUS has incorporated OLED Care Pro with a Neo Proximity Sensor, along with a GaNFET-based power supply and thermal management features intended to reduce heat and support panel longevity. Both displays carry a three-year warranty that includes OLED burn-in coverage.
The 720Hz and 540Hz refresh rates translate to approximately 1.39ms and 1.85ms between display refreshes, respectively. However, achieving corresponding frame rates in demanding competitive games requires sufficiently powerful PC hardware, and the higher refresh rate does not automatically guarantee a measurable competitive advantage.
The announcement also comes amid wider changes in the premium monitor market, including reported increases in monitor pricing. ASUS is positioning its two new models at distinct price points, with a $400 difference between their previously announced US MSRPs.
For competitive players, the choice primarily comes down to the additional 180Hz refresh rate, higher-bandwidth DisplayPort connection and positioning tools offered by the PG259QWS Ace. The XG259QWPG Ace retains most of the same OLED panel characteristics at a lower advertised price.
ASUS has not provided independent gaming benchmarks or detailed regional retail availability information in its October 28 announcement. Actual motion performance, brightness behavior and the practical benefits of 720Hz compared with 540Hz remain to be established through independent testing.
