Bend Studio, the Sony-owned developer behind Days Gone, is reportedly preparing to reveal and release its next game in 2027. The unannounced project is said to feature third-person cooperative gameplay, but it will not be a live-service title or a sequel to Days Gone.
The details come from an October 31, 2026, report by MP1st, which cites anonymous sources familiar with the studio’s development plans. According to those sources, the project is further along in production than some might expect, with both its announcement and launch currently targeted for next year.
Sony Interactive Entertainment and Bend Studio have not officially confirmed the reported gameplay details or release window. The 2027 schedule remains an internal target rather than an announced launch date.

The report describes Bend Studio’s upcoming project as a third-person game incorporating cooperative multiplayer. However, it does not establish how the co-op system will work, how many players it will support, or whether multiplayer will be central to the overall experience.
One important distinction is that the game reportedly will not follow a live-service model. While cooperative multiplayer can exist within continuously updated online games, the report specifically describes Bend Studio’s project as something other than a games-as-a-service release.
This represents a change from the developer’s previously known direction. Bend Studio had been working on an unannounced live-service project before Sony cancelled it in January 2025. That cancellation left questions about what the studio would develop next.
MP1st previously published information about the cancelled project, reportedly codenamed Mirror Pond. The latest report concerns Bend Studio’s next game, but it does not establish whether any technology, gameplay systems or other work from the cancelled project has carried over.
For players hoping to see another Days Gone adventure, the report also rules out a direct sequel. MP1st states that the upcoming game is not Days Gone 2, although its sources did not establish whether it belongs to an entirely new intellectual property or another existing franchise.
Days Gone originally launched for PlayStation 4 in April 2019, introducing players to Deacon St. John and an open-world survival experience built around motorcycle exploration, hostile survivors and large groups of infected enemies known as Freakers.
The game later received a PC release, while Days Gone Remastered arrived on PlayStation 5 in April 2025. Despite the franchise’s return through the remaster, Bend Studio has not released another major original game since the 2019 title.
The reported 2027 launch would therefore mark an important return for the developer following several years of cancelled projects and uncertainty surrounding its next release.
However, substantial details remain unknown. The game’s official title, setting, story, cooperative mechanics and supported platforms have not been disclosed. There is also no confirmed information about a potential PC version.
The proposed release schedule is particularly notable because it suggests Bend Studio could announce and launch its next game within the same calendar year. MP1st’s sources indicate that development has progressed considerably, but the report cautions that plans may change.
Until Sony or Bend Studio formally announces the project, its third-person cooperative gameplay, non-live-service structure and 2027 launch target should all be treated as reported information rather than confirmed features or commitments.
