Kingdom Hearts x Fortnite has received its most substantial reveal yet, with new key art, trailer footage and in-game looks at Sora, Riku, Kairi and Roxas surfacing ahead of the crossover’s September 17 launch. The material shows all four Kingdom Hearts characters rendered in Fortnite and gives players a much clearer look at the collaboration than Epic Games’ earlier short Sora teaser. The crossover is arriving as part of Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override.
Epic had already confirmed that Kingdom Hearts content was coming during the season, with the official Override announcement naming the franchise among several gaming collaborations planned for the Item Shop. The same season page also confirmed that the Kingdom Key would appear later in the season as part of Fortnite’s gameplay content. More recently, Epic revealed Sora directly and teased Riku, Kairi and Roxas through character quotes on its social channels.
The new footage removes much of the remaining uncertainty around the playable cosmetic lineup. Sora, Riku, Kairi and Roxas can all be seen in Fortnite, with their designs based on recognizable Kingdom Hearts appearances rather than heavily reworked versions created specifically for the battle royale. Sora retains his Kingdom Hearts II-style look, which Epic had already shown in its first teaser.
The collaboration is scheduled to arrive on September 17 alongside Fortnite’s v42.20 update. That date had already been tied to the full four-character Kingdom Hearts crossover, but the newly surfaced trailer and key art provide the first comprehensive look at how the lineup appears together in-game. Epic’s official teaser activity before this point had focused primarily on Sora.
The Kingdom Key is also one of the most important parts of the crossover. Epic’s Season 4 announcement previously confirmed it as a gameplay item coming later in the season, while Sora’s teaser showed him holding a Fortnite-styled version of the weapon. The collaboration’s presentation closely follows Kingdom Hearts’ visual identity, while making the adjustments needed to fit Fortnite’s broader aesthetic.
The crossover has been building gradually throughout September. Epic first moved from broad Season 4 references to confirming Sora for Fortnite this week, then used additional social posts to point toward the wider cast. The new trailer material effectively completes that reveal by showing Riku, Kairi and Roxas alongside him rather than leaving their involvement to teasers alone.
Kingdom Hearts’ Fortnite presence also appears to extend beyond character outfits. Separate leaked material has pointed toward a Gummi Ship vehicle crossover tied to Fortnite and Rocket League, suggesting Epic and Square Enix are treating the collaboration as more than a single Item Shop drop. The exact timing and pricing of every associated cosmetic has not yet been publicly detailed.
Fortnite’s Override season has been built around major gaming crossovers, with Mega Man, Pac-Man, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Persona 5 Royal and other franchises appearing or scheduled throughout the season. Kingdom Hearts is one of the most prominent of those additions because it brings multiple fan-favorite characters into Fortnite at once rather than centering on a single skin.
The new key art and trailer therefore represent a meaningful step beyond the initial Sora reveal. Players now have a clear look at all four Kingdom Hearts characters included in the crossover before they arrive on September 17, with Sora, Riku, Kairi and Roxas forming the core cosmetic lineup.
