MapleStory has reached a new all-time peak of 27,447 concurrent players on Steam following the October 21, 2026 global launch of MapleStory Classic World. Nexon America has also highlighted upcoming content for the classic MMORPG, including the Forgotten Hollow region on November 18 and a guild system arriving December 9.
According to SteamDB, MapleStory reached its new concurrency record on October 25, surpassing its previous peak of 17,535 players recorded in June 2026. The October figure represents an increase of approximately 56%. However, Steam tracks MapleStory under a shared application listing, meaning the total includes activity beyond Classic World and cannot be attributed exclusively to the new version.
The increase follows Classic World’s transition from Founder’s Access to its global launch on October 21. Nexon acknowledged higher-than-expected player demand and implemented additional server optimizations to improve stability. The company also expanded server channel capacity to accommodate the growing population.

The player-count milestone comes amid strong activity across several established PC games, including Dota 2 surpassing 1.08 million concurrent Steam players during October.
Nexon’s November 18 update will introduce Forgotten Hollow, a new region designed specifically for MapleStory Classic World rather than recreated from the original MMORPG. The area features monsters ranging from levels 39 to 59 and introduces Rotten Mushmom as a new field boss.
Forgotten Hollow contains two distinct environments. Its upper section includes a sanctuary inhabited by cave fairies, while the deeper portion has been affected by corruption associated with the World Tree. The region will provide additional exploration and combat opportunities for players progressing through Classic World’s early-game content.
The November update will also introduce Moon Bunny’s Rice Cake, a Thanksgiving-themed party quest designed for lower-level characters. The event is scheduled to run from mid-November into early December, giving players another cooperative activity alongside the new region.
On December 9, Nexon plans to introduce guild creation, allowing players to establish guilds directly in Lith Harbor. The system will support custom guild marks, while additional guild-related features are planned for subsequent updates.
The December update will also add a party quest within Forgotten Hollow for characters level 41 and above. Happyville, the returning Christmas-themed area, will accompany the update with seasonal content and holiday events.
These additions form part of the roadmap Nexon originally presented during MapleStory Fest 2026 in October. The publisher is also developing Classic World’s first boss raid, additional content involving the Orbis region, and third-job advancement. A test server for third-job advancement is planned for early 2027, although release dates for those larger additions have not been confirmed.
MapleStory Classic World revisits the earlier design of Nexon’s long-running 2D MMORPG, focusing on Victoria Island while incorporating exclusive systems and locations. The game is accessible on PC through Steam and the Nexon Launcher, with the November 18 update representing its next scheduled major content expansion.
