Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially announced Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3, a new free-to-play multiplayer combat game coming to PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. Developed by Bandai Namco Forge Digitals, the sequel will support cross-play between both platforms and feature mobile suits from the Universal Century and Alternative Gundam timelines. A release date has not been announced.
The announcement was made on October 28, 2026, alongside an official trailer and the opening of the game’s Steam store page. Battle Operation 3 continues the series’ focus on tactical, team-based combat, allowing players to pilot mobile suits, coordinate attacks with teammates and participate in infantry operations outside their machines.
The sequel also expands the franchise’s playable roster beyond its traditional Universal Century setting, introducing mobile suits from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and promising additional Alternative timeline content after launch.

Bandai Namco describes Battle Operation 3 as a multiplayer action game in which players enlist as mercenaries and fight across large-scale battlefields. Team composition will play an important role, with different mobile suits offering distinct weapons, combat abilities and tactical advantages.
Players will need to coordinate long-range attacks, close-quarters engagements and specialized mobile suit abilities to defeat opposing teams. Rather than focusing exclusively on individual combat performance, the game emphasizes cooperation and selecting suitable units for different battlefield situations.
Infantry gameplay will also return, allowing pilots to leave their mobile suits and participate directly in ground operations. On-foot activities include planting bombs at enemy bases, requesting support fire and capturing important battlefield objectives.
Between matches, players can visit a central Base Camp area designed as a social hub. Bandai Namco says the location will allow players to interact with other mercenaries before deploying into battles.
The developer is also emphasizing detailed 3D mobile suit models, environmental effects and cinematic battlefield presentation, although specific technical details such as target frame rates and graphics settings have not been disclosed.
One of the sequel’s most significant additions is its expanded selection of Gundam timelines. Bandai Namco has confirmed that the launch roster will feature mobile suits from several Universal Century productions, including Mobile Suit Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team and Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory.
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED will represent the Alternative timeline at launch. Bandai Namco also plans to introduce content from two to three additional Alternative Gundam series during the game’s first year of availability. The publisher has not identified those additional series or announced a schedule for their introduction.
Cross-play between PlayStation 5 and Steam is another confirmed feature, allowing players on both platforms to participate in the same multiplayer environment. The game will support English, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese language options.
The official Steam listing confirms English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese voice support, while Korean will be available through the interface and subtitles.
The announcement follows the appearance of a Battle Operation 3 network test listing on SteamDB in September 2026. That entry suggested Bandai Namco was preparing another installment, but the publisher had not confirmed the game at the time.
With the sequel now officially announced, the earlier SteamDB discovery has additional context. However, Bandai Namco has not confirmed dates, registration details or participation requirements for a public network test.
Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2, the previous installment, remains available as a free-to-play multiplayer game on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Steam. The third entry will bring the series to PS5 and PC with cross-platform play and a broader selection of Gundam timelines.
Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3 is currently listed on Steam with its release date marked as “To be announced.” The PC store page also leaves minimum and recommended hardware specifications unspecified, apart from requiring a 64-bit operating system and processor.
Bandai Namco has not announced a release window or confirmed whether the upcoming network test listing will lead to a publicly accessible testing period. Players can currently wishlist the game on Steam while awaiting further launch details.
