Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has debuted at number one on the UK physical game sales chart, with PlayStation 5 accounting for 78% of its boxed sales. Xbox Series X|S contributed 19%, while Nintendo Switch 2 accounted for just 3%, according to the latest GfK retail figures published on October 26, 2026.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort entered the chart in second place, followed by EA Sports FC 27 in third. Square Enix’s Final Fantasy Resonance also made its debut, securing fourth place with a considerably larger proportion of its physical sales coming from Nintendo platforms.
The figures cover boxed game sales in the UK and do not include digital downloads. They therefore provide a snapshot of physical retail performance rather than total launch sales across all platforms.

Modern Warfare 4 launched on October 23 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2, following a rollout that included DMZ early access for digital preorders.
Its first UK retail chart appearance shows a substantial preference for the PS5 physical edition. Of the three console platforms included in the reported breakdown, PlayStation accounted for more than three-quarters of boxed sales, while Xbox represented roughly one-fifth.
The Switch 2 version’s 3% share is notably smaller, although the figures alone cannot establish how the game performed through Nintendo’s digital storefront. Without download sales or unit totals, it is also impossible to determine the full commercial performance of Modern Warfare 4 on Nintendo’s hardware.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort delivered another significant debut, entering the all-format chart at number two. Released exclusively for Switch 2 on October 22, the motion-controlled sports game features 12 sports and activities set around Wuhu Island, with local multiplayer and online play.
The Nintendo exclusive finished ahead of EA Sports FC 27, which dropped from first to third place after previously leading the UK physical rankings.
Final Fantasy Resonance entered fourth, with PS5 accounting for 54% of its boxed sales, Switch 2 contributing 34%, and the original Nintendo Switch representing the remaining 12%.
That gives Nintendo’s two platforms a combined 46% share of Final Fantasy Resonance’s reported physical console sales, compared with only 3% for the Switch 2 edition of Modern Warfare 4.
The RPG has also attracted attention on PC, where Final Fantasy Resonance reached 42,885 concurrent Steam players, exceeding Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s recorded peak. Those Steam figures measure simultaneous players rather than game purchases and are separate from the UK physical sales results.
Elsewhere in the latest GfK top ten, Star Wars: Galactic Racer remained fifth and Mario Kart World held sixth. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse dropped from third to seventh, while Minecraft climbed from eleventh to eighth.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight rose from 23rd to ninth, and Planet Zoo 2 entered the chart in tenth place.
The October 26 rankings highlight contrasting physical sales patterns across the latest major releases. Modern Warfare 4’s boxed sales were heavily concentrated on PS5, while Final Fantasy Resonance secured a much larger share across Nintendo’s two consoles.
GfK’s chart does not disclose unit sales in the published breakdown, and digital purchases are excluded. As a result, the platform percentages should not be interpreted as worldwide sales figures or definitive measures of overall demand for either game.
