The RPCS3 PlayStation 3 emulator has reached another compatibility milestone, with no games remaining in its Loadable category. The development follows a technical fix that allows Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. 2 to progress beyond its previous loading problems and reach gameplay. However, the achievement does not mean every PS3 game is now fully playable on PC.
The RPCS3 development team announced the milestone on October 31, 2026, confirming that contributor Yahfz had implemented an SPU accuracy correction for Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. 2. The change moved the game from Loadable to Ingame status, leaving the former category empty.
The fix addresses how RPCS3 recreates the PlayStation 3’s SPU thread loader during initialization. The emulator now reproduces the loader and the arguments that the console’s LV2 kernel places in Local Store when each SPU group starts, before loading the code image. According to the developers, this prevents corruption of the loader that previously interfered with the game.

SPUs are part of the PlayStation 3’s Cell processor architecture, and accurately reproducing their behavior is essential for emulating software originally designed around Sony’s hardware. In this case, correcting a specific initialization behavior was enough to advance H.A.W.X. 2 into gameplay.
RPCS3 uses several compatibility classifications to distinguish games that function correctly from those that still encounter problems. Playable represents titles that can be completed with sufficiently stable performance and without game-breaking issues. Ingame covers titles that reach gameplay but may experience serious glitches, inadequate performance or problems preventing completion.
Intro applies to games that launch but cannot progress beyond their introductory screens or menus. Loadable describes titles that initialize but display only a black screen, sometimes with a frame-rate counter visible in the emulator window. Nothing is reserved for games that fail to initialize successfully.
Moving Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. 2 into Ingame is therefore a meaningful improvement, but it does not establish that the game can be completed or played without technical problems. Further compatibility work may still be necessary before it qualifies as Playable.
The milestone also comes as RPCS3 continues improving compatibility across the broader PS3 library. On October 21, the development team announced that 80% of PlayStation 3 games had reached Playable status, citing improvements in CPU, GPU and PlayStation Move emulation.
That still leaves approximately one-fifth of the tracked library outside the fully Playable classification. Around 22 titles remain in Intro status, meaning they have yet to progress reliably into actual gameplay. Some of these games depend on motion controls or multiplayer functionality, presenting additional compatibility challenges.
RPCS3 previously reached an empty Loadable category around the beginning of 2023, so this is not the first time the project has achieved that particular result. The latest milestone is significant because it follows a new emulator accuracy fix and restores the category to zero after subsequent compatibility listings included additional Loadable titles.
The improvement reflects continuing work on running older console games on modern computers. Similar compatibility challenges remain visible in newer projects, including the experimental Nintendo Switch 2 emulator Eglantine, which has demonstrated early game execution on PC but still faces substantial limitations.
For RPCS3 users, the immediate benefit is that Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. 2 has advanced beyond its previous black-screen behavior. The broader achievement is that the emulator’s currently tracked PS3 library no longer contains games classified as Loadable, although stable, start-to-finish compatibility across the entire library remains unfinished.
