Sonic X Shadow Generations has surpassed 3 million copies sold worldwide, SEGA announced on October 26, 2026, just one day after the game’s second anniversary. The milestone covers cumulative physical and digital sales across all supported platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
The latest figure marks another significant sales milestone for the action-adventure title, which originally launched on October 25, 2024. SEGA previously confirmed that worldwide sales had exceeded 2 million copies on January 24, 2025, meaning the game has added more than 1 million sales since that announcement.
Sonic X Shadow Generations combines an updated version of 2011’s Sonic Generations with Shadow Generations, an entirely new campaign starring Shadow the Hedgehog. The original Sonic adventure features remastered stages built around Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic, while Shadow’s campaign introduces separate environments, abilities and a storyline exploring the character’s past.
The collection initially launched for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. A Nintendo Switch 2 version followed on June 5, 2025, expanding the game’s availability to Nintendo’s newer hardware.
SEGA’s October 26 announcement confirms that the 3 million sales figure includes both packaged copies and digital downloads across every platform. However, the publisher did not provide individual sales figures for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 or PC, making it impossible to determine which platforms contributed most to the latest milestone.
The game’s commercial performance has continued beyond its initial launch period. While Sonic X Shadow Generations reached 2 million sales within its first three months, its latest milestone demonstrates that additional copies have continued selling throughout the following 21 months.
SEGA also highlighted its international distribution efforts, noting that Sonic X Shadow Generations supports 13 languages and has received promotional support through events worldwide.
The sales announcement arrives during Sonic the Hedgehog’s 35th anniversary year. SEGA’s long-running franchise celebrated the milestone on June 23, 2026, marking 35 years since the original Sonic the Hedgehog debuted in 1991.
Sonic X Shadow Generations remains available across its supported console and PC platforms. SEGA has not announced a platform-specific breakdown or provided a timetable for its next sales update.
