Valve has shared a selection of 20 of the most-played demos from Steam Next Fest October 2026, highlighting upcoming PC games that attracted substantial player interest during the week-long event. The selection includes ArcheAge Chronicles, Frostrail, Loftia, Deadzone Rogue 2 and several smaller indie releases.
The list was circulated as Steam Next Fest approaches its conclusion on October 26 at 17:00 UTC (10:00 a.m. Pacific). Valve did not provide individual player counts or specify a ranking order, meaning the 20 titles should be treated as a collection of popular demos rather than a definitive leaderboard.
The October event began on October 19, offering thousands of free playable demos alongside developer livestreams and opportunities to discover upcoming games. Valve has also scheduled an official post-event roundup featuring the festival’s most-played demos for October 26.

Among the highlighted games, ArcheAge Chronicles brings players into the fantasy world of Auroria with an action-focused adventure set in the established ArcheAge universe. Frostrail takes a different approach, combining first-person survival combat, resource gathering and crafting with a steam-powered train that players must maintain and upgrade while travelling through a frozen wasteland.
Loftia represents the more relaxed side of the festival. The online life simulation focuses on farming, crafting, decorating and building a sustainable community with other players. Deadzone Rogue 2, meanwhile, offers a first-person roguelite experience featuring hostile machines, weapon customization, elemental effects and cooperative gameplay.
Several multiplayer-focused indie games also feature in Valve’s selection. Worst Class Ever is an asymmetric classroom party game where students secretly break rules while a teacher attempts to identify them. Dumpster Gang features raccoons stealing objects and avoiding an Exterminator, while Haunted Paws follows two puppies exploring a haunted mansion to rescue their owner.
Other unusual entries include Probably Stolen – Cyberpunk Shopkeeper Sim, which combines shop management with crafting and smuggling aboard a dystopian space station. Find The Needle challenges players to locate a needle hidden among millions of strands of hay, gradually automating the search through machinery and upgrades.
Valve’s selection also includes Fart Together, Character House -Desktop Companion-, just volleyball, Abyssal Lapidary, Mortuus, HANDS OVER, Emberville, No Body No Problem!, Wyldheart, Grr Grr Gnomes and Never Be Alone.
The variety of games reflects the different experiences attracting players during the October festival, from cooperative survival and action RPGs to social party games and unconventional simulation concepts.
Importantly, the selection does not establish which game attracted the largest overall audience. Without numerical results or an official ranking, comparisons between individual titles remain limited. Independent concurrent-player trackers provide additional snapshots of demo activity, but those measurements are not equivalent to total players across the festival.
Steam Next Fest concludes on October 26, after which the availability of individual demos depends on whether developers choose to keep them accessible. Players interested in trying the highlighted games can find their Steam store pages and add upcoming releases to their wishlists.
Valve’s official wrap-up, scheduled for the same day, is expected to provide a further look at the demos that received the most attention throughout the October 2026 event.
