The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered has reached 137,724 concurrent players on Steam, extending the RPG’s post-launch resurgence less than a week after release. Steam’s own player statistics recorded a peak of 137,724 on October 4, while SteamDB also flagged the figure as a new high for the Remastered release. At the time of SteamDB’s post, its rating tracker placed the game at 95.11%.
The latest figure represents another step up from the game’s already strong launch performance. Remastered had crossed 120,000 concurrent Steam players shortly after releasing on September 29, surpassing the original version’s previous peak of roughly 103,000 players. That earlier record came years after the original 2015 launch, during a major resurgence around the wider popularity of The Witcher franchise.
CD Projekt Red released Remastered as a free upgrade for existing owners on qualifying platforms, lowering the barrier for returning players to try the updated version. The package includes both Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine at no additional cost for owners of the base game, alongside visual, performance and gameplay upgrades. It launched on Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Battle.net, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.

The update makes substantial changes to the decade-old RPG rather than simply increasing resolution. CD Projekt Red lists improved textures and models, revised lighting and foliage, updated rendering and ray tracing, new visual effects and changes to character progression among its additions. The studio also incorporated assets from The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project, a long-running community graphics overhaul.
Platform features have been part of the rollout as well. The Xbox version gained Xbox Play Anywhere support, allowing eligible owners to access the game across Xbox consoles and PC within Microsoft’s ecosystem. Ahead of launch, the PlayStation 5 package was also reported at roughly 68.57 GB, giving console players an early indication of the remaster’s storage requirements.
The Steam numbers are particularly notable because Remastered is attached to an existing game with more than a decade of accumulated ownership and reviews rather than launching as an entirely separate new franchise entry. Steam’s live statistics placed The Witcher 3 among the platform’s most-played games on October 4, with more than 130,000 players still active around the time the 137,724 daily peak was recorded. The result shows that a significant portion of the audience is returning simultaneously rather than the upgrade being consumed gradually by existing owners.
Its reception has remained strong as player counts have risen. Steam currently lists the title with overwhelmingly positive English-language user reviews overall, while SteamDB’s rating calculation was above 95% when it highlighted the new concurrent-player record. Recent Steam reviews are somewhat lower than the lifetime figure, but the broader response remains heavily positive.
The resurgence comes despite some early technical issues following the September 29 release. CD Projekt Red has already issued fixes addressing problems on multiple platforms, including PC-specific issues, as the studio continues supporting the updated version. Those problems have so far not prevented the game from repeatedly increasing its concurrent Steam peak during its first week.
With 137,724 simultaneous players now recorded, Remastered has moved well beyond the original game’s previous Steam record rather than merely matching the renewed interest surrounding its release. Whether that figure holds as the game’s long-term high will depend on how player activity develops over the coming weeks, but the October 4 result establishes another clear milestone for one of CD Projekt Red’s longest-running releases.
