Mycopunk will leave Early Access and launch for PlayStation 5 and PC in October 2026, publisher Devolver Digital and developer Pigeons at Play have announced. The full release will also join the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on day one, giving Extra and Premium subscribers access to the PS5 version as part of their membership. An exact October release date has not yet been confirmed.

The announcement marks Mycopunk’s first console release after more than a year in Steam Early Access. The cooperative first-person shooter originally entered Early Access on July 10, 2025, with Pigeons at Play using player feedback to refine its weapons, upgrades and mission structure. Devolver had previously indicated that a full version and console release were planned for 2026.

Mycopunk supports between one and four players and follows the New Atlas Hazard Crew, a group of ramshackle robots employed by the SAXON corporation. The team is sent to investigate and contain a fungal catastrophe spreading across a planet, only to encounter increasingly hostile mechanical creatures corrupted by the infection. Missions revolve around completing objectives, fighting enemies and collecting equipment before returning to the crew’s orbital base.

Customization is one of the game’s central systems. Players can choose from conventional futuristic weapons alongside more unusual tools, then modify their equipment through a grid-based upgrade system. Upgrades can significantly alter how weapons behave, allowing different members of a squad to build complementary loadouts rather than simply increasing basic statistics.

The same approach extends to the playable robots, which have different gadgets and abilities that can be combined during cooperative missions. Pigeons at Play designed the characters around team synergy, encouraging players to create combinations between their individual builds and their squadmates’ equipment. Friendly fire also remains part of the experience, adding another variable when several heavily modified weapons are being used at once.

Enemies can lose individual parts during combat, but those components do not always remain harmless. Other creatures can collect discarded pieces and use them, potentially changing how an encounter develops after players have already damaged one opponent. That system contributes to the game’s emphasis on improvisation rather than treating every enemy wave as a fixed sequence.

Between missions, players return to an orbital dropship that functions as a social hub. The area contains activities, games and opportunities to interact with other members of the crew, including SAXON veteran Roachard Cox. It also provides a break between combat-focused missions while giving players more information about the world and the fungal outbreak they are investigating.

Mycopunk has continued receiving new content throughout its Early Access period. One of its larger updates, Oxythane Breach, added additional levels, enemies, weapons, upgrades and the Paid Time Off mode, which lets groups enter New Atlas, complete randomized objectives and decide when to extract. Staying longer increases the danger, giving the mode a risk-versus-reward structure separate from the game’s more conventional missions.

The October launch will bring that accumulated Early Access development into the full PC version while introducing Mycopunk to PS5 players for the first time. Sony confirmed during its September 3 State of Play that the game will arrive in the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, placing it alongside a growing selection of titles that launch directly into the Extra and Premium service tiers.

The PS Plus inclusion could significantly expand the available cooperative player base at launch, particularly as the game moves beyond its existing Steam audience. Sony has not announced any separate PlayStation 4 version, and Xbox or Nintendo Switch versions have not been confirmed. Cross-platform multiplayer details between PS5 and PC have also not yet been fully outlined.

Mycopunk launches for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam in October 2026, when the PC version will leave Early Access. The PS5 release will be available through the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on day one, while Devolver Digital has yet to announce the specific October launch date.
