Devolver Digital and Deepnight Games have confirmed that Tenjutsu, an upcoming action roguelike from Dead Cells designer Sébastien Benard, will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. The announcement was accompanied by a new gameplay trailer on October 28, 2026, offering another look at the game’s fast-paced martial arts combat. A PC version is also in development through Steam.
The announcement establishes a release year for the Nintendo Switch 2 version, although an exact launch date has not been revealed. The Steam listing continues to show its release date as unannounced, leaving the timing of the PC version unclear.
Tenjutsu follows Ten, a former yakuza member attempting to rebuild her life after returning home from prison. Set in the neon-lit streets of Kuroboro City, the game pits her against criminal organizations that view her return as a threat to their control.

Combat combines martial arts techniques with melee, ranged and special weapons. Players can customize their fighting style through different abilities and equipment while confronting groups of enemies in encounters designed around quick movements and tactical decisions.
A central part of Tenjutsu’s roguelike structure involves choosing which criminal syndicates to confront first. Defeating one organization strengthens the remaining enemies, making the order of encounters an important part of each run. Players must balance immediate progress against the increasing difficulty of subsequent confrontations.
Beyond combat, Tenjutsu features a randomized city that players can modify as they progress. Special items called Jokers allow players to alter aspects of the environment, including vending machines, shop inventories and prices. These adjustments provide opportunities to acquire equipment, recover health and prepare for further encounters.
The game also includes permanent progression between runs. Defeated enemies provide resources that can be used to unlock stronger weapons, expand the city and change gameplay rules. Story events unfold between attempts, including interactions at Ten’s apartment and a ramen shop operated by Nanny Hoken.
Tenjutsu was originally introduced as a project from Deepnight Games, with Sébastien Benard bringing his experience as a designer on Dead Cells to a new combat-focused roguelike. Its combination of customizable fighting systems, evolving environments and persistent upgrades distinguishes it from traditional stage-based beat ’em ups.
The Nintendo Switch 2 confirmation adds another upcoming independent action game to the console’s lineup, which also includes recently released titles such as The Outlast Trials.
Tenjutsu is currently listed as a single-player game on Steam, where players can add it to their wishlists. Devolver Digital and Deepnight Games have not announced an exact release date for either the Nintendo Switch 2 or PC version.
