Cities: Skylines – Expanded Edition will launch for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 28, Paradox Interactive and Tantalus Media have officially announced. The new version of Colossal Order’s city-building game is priced at $49 / £41.49 / €49 and includes improved visuals, expanded building tools and several features designed specifically for the newer Nintendo hardware. It also bundles 10 existing expansions and content packs rather than launching as a bare port of the original Switch release.
One of the biggest changes is the increase in buildable space. Expanded Edition raises the limit from nine tiles to 25, giving players substantially more room to develop larger cities and spread districts, infrastructure and services across a broader map. A map editor is also included, allowing players to create and customize landscapes before beginning construction.
The building interface has been expanded with additional precision tools as well. Paradox says players will have access to a distance indicator, revised snapping options and other placement improvements intended to make construction easier to control. An environmental controls panel will also let players adjust elements such as the time of day, rain, fog and environmental coloring while working on their cities.

Switch 2 owners will have two graphics modes to choose from. The Performance option targets 60 FPS while using upscaling and adjusted quality settings, while the Quality option targets 30 FPS with a greater emphasis on visual fidelity. Keyboard and mouse support is also confirmed alongside traditional controller input, giving players another option for a genre that often benefits from more precise cursor-based controls.
The release includes After Dark, Snowfall, Green Cities and Sunset Harbor among its major expansions. Additional bundled content consists of Map Pack 3, Country Road, Pearls from the East, Deep Focus Radio, Carols, Candles & Candy and Match Day. That package gives the Switch 2 edition a much broader starting content library than the base game alone.
Players who already own Cities: Skylines on the original Nintendo Switch will not receive a free upgrade, but Paradox is offering a substantial loyalty discount. Existing owners will be eligible for 70% off the Expanded Edition from October 28, 2026 through April 28, 2027. The release joins a growing number of games receiving dedicated Switch 2 versions, including Earth Defense Force 6, which is also heading to Nintendo’s newer hardware.
Paradox is also releasing additional Cities: Skylines content on other platforms the same day. Holiday Getaways and Mansions & Manors will arrive as new Content Creator Packs for PC, PlayStation and Xbox, alongside Blueprint Beats Radio. The content packs will cost $5.99 / £4.99 / €5.99 individually, while the radio station is priced at $3.99 / £2.99 / €3.99.
Those additions will also be sold together through the Estates & Escapes Bundle for $12.99 / £10.99 / €12.99. Holiday Getaways focuses on resorts, vacation destinations and park areas, while Mansions & Manors adds upscale residential buildings, service structures and luxury vehicles. Blueprint Beats Radio adds 16 tracks spanning lo-fi hip-hop, chillhop and downtempo music.
Cities: Skylines – Expanded Edition is based on the original Cities: Skylines rather than Cities: Skylines II, which remains a separate title. The Switch 2 edition instead focuses on giving the first game more space, better performance and improved controls while retaining the familiar city-building systems that defined the original release. With 25 buildable tiles, optional 60 FPS play and a sizable DLC bundle, the October 28 release is a more substantial upgrade than a straightforward platform conversion.
