SNK has confirmed that Kim Kaphwan will join Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves on September 24 as the next downloadable fighter in Season Pass 3. The veteran taekwondo specialist was previously scheduled only for a September release, giving players a firm date for his return. SNK has also released a new character trailer showing Kim in action ahead of his arrival.
Kim Kaphwan is one of the longest-running fighters associated with SNK’s Fatal Fury and King of Fighters series. SNK describes him as a legendary taekwondo master whose influence continues through his sons Kim Dong Hwan and Kim Jae Hoon, both of whom are already represented in City of the Wolves. His fighting style remains built around rapid, disciplined kicks and the character’s long-standing fixation on justice.
The new trailer provides the first substantial look at how Kim has been adapted to City of the Wolves’ combat system. His moves retain the aggressive taekwondo identity associated with earlier appearances, while fitting into the game’s faster REV-driven battle structure. June Yoon voices Kim in English, while Kunihiro Kawamoto provides his Japanese voice.

Kim is the third fighter in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Season Pass 3. Rick Strowd opened the season in July, followed by Duck King in August, with SNK maintaining its plan to release a new DLC fighter or major addition every month throughout the second half of 2026. Season Pass 3 costs $19.99 in the US and €19.99 in Europe.
The remaining Season 3 lineup has also become clearer in recent weeks. Tokyo Revengers characters Manjiro “Mikey” Sano and Ken “Draken” Ryuguji are scheduled to arrive together in October, while Laocorn follows in November. One final fighter remains unannounced for December, giving SNK another reveal to make before the season concludes.
Mikey and Draken will arrive alongside the game’s upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 release on October 22. The Switch 2 version of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will be available in a Starter Edition that includes all three Season Passes, meaning Kim Kaphwan will already be part of the available DLC lineup when that version launches. The standard Switch 2 edition will also be available separately without the additional paid content.
Season 3 represents a broader shift in how SNK handles City of the Wolves DLC. Characters that were previously tied more closely to season bundles can now also be sold individually, giving players more flexibility if they only want specific additions. That change is particularly useful for a season mixing returning Fatal Fury veterans with crossover characters and less frequently seen SNK fighters.
Kim’s arrival also gives City of the Wolves an unusually strong concentration of taekwondo characters. Kim Dong Hwan is part of the base roster, while Kim Jae Hoon returned earlier this year as the opening fighter of Season Pass 2. Both characters were originally introduced in Garou: Mark of the Wolves and represent different interpretations of the fighting style they inherited from their father.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is currently available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store. The game will expand to Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22, with the digital version arriving first and a physical release scheduled for January 21, 2027. Kim Kaphwan will be available on the existing platforms beginning September 24.
