Fortnite is reportedly getting a Sora Cup on September 18, giving players a chance to earn the Kingdom Hearts protagonist’s Outfit through competitive placement. HYPEX shared the tournament details after they were spotted by LukeGuyThe2nd, with the leaked information also indicating that players who score eight points will receive a Sora-themed Spray. Epic Games has not yet published full Sora Cup rules or regional prize thresholds, so the tournament rewards should be treated as leaked until those details appear through Fortnite’s official competitive channels.

The September 18 date does line up with Fortnite’s existing competitive schedule. Epic currently lists an Override Series event for that day across multiple regions, although the public tournament page still says that further details are coming and does not identify it as the Sora Cup. That leaves the newly surfaced cosmetic rewards as the main unconfirmed portion of the leak rather than the existence of competitive play on September 18 itself.

According to HYPEX, the Sora Outfit will be awarded based on leaderboard placement rather than reaching a fixed points threshold. The exact placements needed to win the skin have not surfaced publicly, and Fortnite cosmetic cups commonly use different qualification cutoffs depending on region. The Spray appears to have a much simpler requirement, with eight points reportedly enough to unlock it regardless of whether a player places highly enough for the Outfit.

Epic has used that type of reward structure repeatedly in cosmetic tournaments. Recent Fortnite cups have offered the featured Outfit to a limited number of top finishers while giving a Spray to anyone who reaches eight points, making the leaked Sora format consistent with established competitive events. That precedent does not independently confirm the Sora prizes, but it makes the reported structure plausible.

The tournament would arrive immediately after the Kingdom Hearts crossover launches in Fortnite on September 17. Epic has confirmed Sora, Riku, Kairi and Roxas as part of the collaboration, with all four appearing in new crossover footage. Sora, Riku and Kairi use their Kingdom Hearts II designs, while Roxas appears in his Organization XIII coat.

A more recent Kingdom Hearts Fortnite trailer showed all four characters in-game, including their respective Keyblades. Sora carries the Kingdom Key, while the collaboration also includes broader Kingdom Hearts-themed content beyond character Outfits. The crossover begins with Fortnite’s September 17 update, putting the reported Cup just one day after the cosmetics arrive.

The Sora tournament would also give players an alternate way to obtain one part of the crossover without purchasing it directly from the Item Shop, provided they can place high enough in their region. Epic regularly runs early-access or cosmetic tournaments around major collaborations, particularly when a character is expected to attract significant interest. Whether the Sora Outfit awarded through the Cup is identical to the Shop version or includes any tournament-specific variation has not been detailed.

Fortnite’s Kingdom Hearts rollout is already extending beyond character skins. Two music tracks, “Dearly Beloved” and “The Other Promise,” are reportedly joining Fortnite Festival on September 17, while crossover footage has also drawn attention to Sora apparently using the Kingdom Key to cast Thundaga. Epic has not fully explained every gameplay element shown in the promotional material.

For now, the strongest new competitive detail is the reported September 18 Sora Cup. Players are said to be able to earn the Sora Outfit through placement and the associated Spray by reaching eight points, but Epic has yet to publish the tournament’s complete rules, scoring system or regional prize cutoffs. Those details should become clearer once the September 18 Override Series listing is updated or the event appears in Fortnite’s in-game Compete tab.
