The End of History is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in the first quarter of 2027, with the console versions scheduled to launch around the same time as the game’s full Steam release. Publisher WorldMap announced the new platforms on September 16 and confirmed that work on the console ports is already underway. The medieval sandbox strategy RPG has been available through Steam Early Access since December 10, 2025.
The console announcement marks a significant expansion for The End of History, which until now has only been available on PC. WorldMap says the PS5 and Xbox Series versions will incorporate improvements made throughout the Early Access period, rather than simply reproducing the game’s original December 2025 build. A more specific date within the January-to-March 2027 window has not yet been announced.
Developed by solo developer Tatamibeya, The End of History takes place in a fictional medieval feudal world where the player begins as an otherwise ordinary individual rather than a predetermined hero. Players can serve a kingdom, become a noble, claim territory, rebel against their ruler or pursue the crown themselves. The game is designed around allowing those choices to influence an evolving simulation rather than following a fixed sequence of story missions.

Its NPCs operate independently and continue forming relationships, pursuing ambitions, fighting wars and changing the political landscape even when the player is not directly involved. That simulation can produce alliances, marriages, betrayals and deaths that reshape the world over the course of a campaign. The broader objective is not simply conquest, as players must also respond to the increasing fragmentation and hatred that can push the game’s world toward collapse.
WorldMap describes the experience as one built around observing and influencing history rather than controlling every event. Players can intervene in political conflicts or allow events to unfold without them, producing different outcomes each time. Combat includes both individual encounters and larger battles, while the wider simulation includes diplomacy, territory management, trade and character relationships.
The Early Access period has been used to refine many of those systems. Tatamibeya has repeatedly updated interface elements, combat behavior, tutorials, NPC events and explanations surrounding the world’s collapse mechanics in response to player feedback. Controller support has also been an important development goal, particularly because the initial Early Access build was designed primarily around keyboard and mouse controls.
That work is especially relevant to the newly announced console editions. The original Early Access roadmap identified controller functionality and a broader user-interface overhaul as major tasks before the complete version of the game. WorldMap now says the console ports will reflect improvements accumulated during Early Access, although it has not provided a final list of differences between the current PC build and the Q1 2027 release.
The End of History will also appear at Tokyo Game Show 2026, which runs from September 17 through September 21 at Makuhari Messe. WorldMap will have the current Steam Early Access version playable at its booth in the Indie Game Area rather than an early console build. The publisher has also released a new trailer alongside the console announcement.
The PC version currently supports English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. WorldMap has not announced whether the console releases will add further language options, nor has it detailed pricing for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Steam version remains in Early Access ahead of its planned full release.
The End of History is now scheduled to reach PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in Q1 2027, with the full Steam version targeted for the same period. Port development has already begun, giving the game’s ongoing Early Access updates several more months to feed into the version that eventually arrives across all three platforms.
