Fortnite’s upcoming v42.20 update has reportedly revealed two more Gaming Legends Sprites, with Morgana from Persona 5 and Crash Bandicoot set to join the collectible companion system. Dataminer FireMonkey shared the discovery on September 16, crediting SpushFNBR and ShiinaBR after material from the new build surfaced ahead of its scheduled release. The update is due to launch on September 17, although Epic Games has not yet formally announced these two Sprites.

The leak is notable because both franchises were already confirmed for Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override, but neither Morgana nor Crash had previously been officially announced as new Sprites. Epic’s season overview names Persona 5 Royal and Crash Bandicoot among the gaming collaborations arriving throughout the season, while also confirming that Override expands the Sprite system with a new generation of collectible characters. The leaked v42.20 assets appear to connect those two parts of the season more directly.

Morgana has already been associated with Fortnite’s Persona 5 collaboration through separate leaked content. Earlier material pointed to a Morgana-themed vehicle and additional Persona 5 content, alongside Joker and other Phantom Thieves-related cosmetics. Morgana has also been linked to a Sidekick, meaning the character could potentially appear in Fortnite in more than one form if the newly uncovered Sprite reaches the live game unchanged.

Crash Bandicoot has already had a larger presence in Override. Epic previously confirmed Crash as one of the season’s Gaming Legends collaborations, and the character has appeared through promotional material and competitive content tied to the Override Series. Adding a Crash Sprite would extend that crossover beyond cosmetics and give players another version of the character to collect through Fortnite’s seasonal Sprite system.

Sprites function differently from normal Outfits and Sidekicks. They are collectible creatures found through Battle Royale and related Override systems, with players able to preserve their collection in the Sprite Garden. Epic has also tied Sprites to Sprite Dust, Loot Hacks and Cheat Codes, making them part of the season’s gameplay loop rather than purely cosmetic companions.

That distinction is especially relevant for Morgana, since leaked reports have separately described the Persona mascot as a Sidekick. A Sidekick is a cosmetic companion that follows the player, while a Sprite belongs to the seasonal gameplay and collection system. If both versions are released, owning or using one would not necessarily imply access to the other.

Epic has already established v42.20 as the next major Fortnite update. The company’s developer documentation lists changes and known issues specifically for version 42.20, while the broader Override update schedule places the patch on September 17. Datamining around the build has also begun exposing other upcoming content before the update is fully available to players.

The new Sprite discoveries add to an increasingly crossover-heavy season. Override launched with gaming franchises integrated into weapons, cosmetics, map elements and Sprites, while later updates have continued adding new collaborations. The recent Pac-Man crossover rollout similarly combines familiar gaming characters with Fortnite’s expanding companion and seasonal systems.

Neither Epic Games, Atlus nor Activision has publicly confirmed the Morgana and Crash Bandicoot Sprites at the time of writing. Their appearance comes from datamined v42.20 material, so their release timing, availability method and exact functionality could still change before the update goes live.

Fortnite v42.20 is scheduled for September 17. If the leaked assets are deployed as expected, Morgana and Crash Bandicoot will become two of the latest crossover characters added to Override’s Sprite collection alongside the season’s existing gaming-themed roster.
