Fortnite’s Pac-Man crossover is reportedly set to expand on September 18, with newly surfaced trailer assets showing the arcade mascot as a Sidekick alongside new gameplay and Pac-Man-themed Kicks. Dataminer FireMonkey shared the material shortly after HYPEX posted the same September 18 date and footage from the apparent promotional trailer. Epic Games has not yet published the trailer through its official channels, so the date and unreleased cosmetic details should still be treated as leaked information.

Pac-Man itself is already confirmed for Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override. Epic’s official season announcement lists Pac-Man among the gaming properties receiving new Item Shop content during the season, alongside Mega Man, Persona 5 Royal, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Kingdom Hearts and others. What Epic has not officially confirmed is when the Pac-Man content will launch or the complete cosmetic lineup.

The newly leaked footage appears to answer part of that question. According to FireMonkey and HYPEX, the trailer is tied to a September 18 release and prominently features a Pac-Man Sidekick, gameplay involving the crossover and footwear cosmetics. That would make Pac-Man another gaming character adapted through Fortnite’s Sidekick system rather than as a conventional humanoid Outfit, which fits the character’s distinctive circular design far better than reshaping him into a standard player model.

The Sidekick format also matches information that had circulated earlier in the season. Pac-Man was repeatedly linked to Fortnite’s companion system before the latest footage appeared, while Epic’s broader Override marketing had already established Sidekicks as an important part of the season’s gaming collaborations. Mega Man’s Rush and other crossover companions have similarly been used to bring characters into Fortnite without making them full player skins.

The new footage arrives after a separate round of Pac-Man leaks pointed to gameplay changes around the crossover. A Pac-Man maze update was recently uncovered in Fortnite data, with Blinky, Inky, Pinky and Clyde referenced alongside a Pac-Man-related Lobby Hack. Those findings suggested that Epic was preparing more than a simple cosmetic return, although the exact relationship between the maze, the leaked trailer and the September 18 rollout is not yet completely clear.

Pac-Man has already appeared in Fortnite before. Epic and Bandai Namco first collaborated in 2022 with the PAC-MAN Back Bling and PAC-Brained Emote, both of which used the original arcade presentation rather than introducing Pac-Man as a playable Outfit. The 2026 crossover appears substantially larger, combining a new Sidekick with gameplay content and additional cosmetics.

The reported Kicks would add another layer to the collaboration. Fortnite’s footwear system allows supported Outfits to wear branded or crossover-themed shoes separately from their main cosmetic set, and the trailer reportedly includes Pac-Man-themed designs. Neither their names nor pricing have been officially published, and it remains unclear whether they will be sold individually or as part of a larger Pac-Man bundle.

A September 18 Item Shop release would place Pac-Man shortly after Fortnite’s next major update, which is currently expected on September 17. Established Fortnite leak accounts have consistently pointed to that update for a new wave of Override content, making a shop rollout the following day plausible. Epic has not independently confirmed either the Pac-Man shop date or whether every associated gameplay change will become active at the same time.

The crossover also follows a similar rollout pattern to Mega Man, another gaming collaboration that began with encrypted and datamined assets before its full cosmetic set emerged. That release eventually included multiple characters and Rush as a Sidekick, with the Mega Man bundle arriving after its Item Shop date surfaced through datamining. Pac-Man’s lineup appears to be taking a different approach by focusing on the mascot himself as a companion rather than building around humanoid skins.

For now, Pac-Man’s presence in Fortnite Season 4 is official, while the September 18 date, Sidekick trailer and Kicks come from leaked promotional material rather than a public Epic Games announcement. If the footage is released unchanged, players should expect Pac-Man’s next Fortnite wave to go beyond the 2022 cosmetics and include both a companion and broader in-game crossover content.
