A new Fortnite datamine points to Geralt of Rivia, Knuckles and Shadow the Hedgehog appearing as NPCs, potentially expanding Chapter 7 Season 4’s crossover presence beyond cosmetics and limited gameplay items. Dataminer FireMonkey identified four new NPC entries in the game’s files: Champion Focus, Geralt of Rivia, “Knuckles the Enchilada” and Shadow the Hedgehog. Epic Games has not announced the characters as upcoming NPCs, so their release timing and exact functions remain unconfirmed.

The unusual “Knuckles the Enchilada” label appears in the datamined entry, while Epic officially refers to the Sonic character as Knuckles the Echidna. Fortnite already introduced playable Knuckles and Shadow Outfits during Chapter 7 Season 4, including a bundle containing both characters and additional Sonic-themed cosmetics. Their presence in the NPC data therefore appears to concern new in-world roles rather than the cosmetics that are already available.

Geralt of Rivia is also an established Fortnite crossover character. The Witcher protagonist originally joined Fortnite through the Chapter 4 Season 1 Battle Pass in 2023, where players could unlock his Outfit and themed rewards through dedicated quests. His appearance in the new NPC data suggests Epic may be preparing another use for the character, although there is currently no indication that his original Battle Pass cosmetics will return.

The discovery fits the unusually crossover-heavy structure of Chapter 7 Season 4: Override. Epic has built the season around gaming franchises, with Sonic the Hedgehog, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Kingdom Hearts and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners among the properties represented through cosmetics, weapons, Sidekicks or other gameplay elements. The recent Pac-Man crossover rollout similarly combines cosmetic content with features that extend onto the Battle Royale island.

Exactly what the three crossover NPCs will do is not yet apparent from the surfaced names. Fortnite NPCs can serve several roles, including selling equipment, offering services, providing dialogue, functioning as bosses or participating in quests. A database entry alone does not establish which of those roles Geralt, Knuckles or Shadow will receive, and Epic could still change or remove unreleased content before it reaches the live game.

The fourth entry, Champion Focus, currently has less obvious crossover context. FireMonkey’s datamine lists it alongside the three recognizable licensed characters, but the name itself does not identify a clear external franchise. Additional files or the next live update may clarify whether Champion Focus is a standard Fortnite character, a temporary gameplay NPC or part of another event.

The discovery comes as dataminers continue examining Fortnite’s latest files for upcoming quests and island changes. The same process has recently uncovered Fortnite’s upcoming Birthday quests, demonstrating how event material can appear in the game data before Epic activates it publicly. Other datamined content can remain unused for extended periods, however, so inclusion in the files should not be treated as confirmation of an immediate release.

Shadow and Knuckles are especially notable because Epic has already established a broader Sonic presence during Override. The official Sonic the Hedgehog Item Shop collection includes both characters, while Dr. Eggman has also appeared through a separate crossover tied to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Turning some of those characters into island NPCs would give the collaboration another gameplay component without requiring entirely new playable Outfits.

Geralt’s possible return is different because his major Fortnite appearance dates back several years. An NPC role could allow Epic to feature The Witcher character again without necessarily changing the availability of his older Battle Pass rewards. Nothing in the current datamine confirms new Geralt cosmetics, quests or Witcher-themed weapons.

For now, the only concrete discovery is that Geralt of Rivia, Shadow the Hedgehog and a Knuckles-labelled entry have appeared among new Fortnite NPC data alongside Champion Focus. Epic has not confirmed when, where or whether all four entries will become active in Battle Royale. More information will likely emerge as the current Fortnite update is examined further or as Epic begins enabling the associated content.
