Haunted Paws will launch for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch in May 2027, developer LazyFlock and Nintendo have confirmed. The two-player cooperative adventure also has a free playable demo available on Nintendo eShop, giving players an early opportunity to experience its puppy-themed exploration and puzzle-solving gameplay.

Nintendo confirmed the release window during its October 28, 2026, Indie World Showcase, which featured several upcoming independent games for both Nintendo platforms. Although the announcement establishes a May 2027 launch window, an exact release date has not been revealed.

Haunted Paws follows two customizable puppies searching for their kidnapped human inside a mysterious haunted mansion. Players create their own dogs before embarking on an adventure involving strange locations, environmental puzzles, unusual characters, and cartoonish monsters.

Cooperation is central to the experience. Many puzzles and important story moments require both puppies to work together, while their abilities allow players to interact with the environment in different ways. Dogs can bark, dig, and sniff to uncover secrets, investigate their surroundings, and progress through the mansion.

The customization system includes different breeds, coat patterns, colors, and accessories, allowing both players to personalize their characters before exploring together.

Haunted Paws supports two-player local cooperative play and online multiplayer. On Nintendo Switch 2, players can also use GameShare to play together locally. Nintendo’s official store listing confirms that local multiplayer supports one Joy-Con controller per player, meaning additional controllers are not required for two people using the same console.

Online multiplayer requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership and a Nintendo Account. The Switch 2 version also supports handheld, tabletop, and TV play modes.

The free demo became available on October 28, coinciding with Nintendo’s Indie World presentation. It was among several playable previews featured during the showcase, alongside Winds of Viridia, another upcoming Switch 2 adventure.

Haunted Paws joins a growing selection of cooperative games announced for Nintendo’s latest console. The same presentation confirmed that R.E.P.O. is coming to Switch 2 in 2027, offering a different take on multiplayer horror through physics-based item retrieval and extraction mechanics.

LazyFlock has not announced an exact May release date or final pricing for Haunted Paws. Both Nintendo Switch versions are scheduled to arrive in May 2027, while the free demo provides an opportunity to try the cooperative adventure ahead of launch.
