The Ascent Ultimate Edition is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on December 2, 2026, bringing Neon Giant’s cyberpunk action RPG to Nintendo hardware for the first time. The Switch 2 release was announced during Nintendo’s September 9 Direct and includes the base game alongside all previously released DLC. Nintendo’s official store also confirms local GameShare, online multiplayer and Joy-Con 2 mouse controls for the new version.

Ultimate Edition bundles The Ascent with Cyber Heist, CyberSec Pack and Cyber Warrior Pack. Cyber Heist is the largest of the three additions, expanding the game with a new campaign set after the main story, additional locations and melee weapons. The CyberSec and Cyber Warrior packs focus more heavily on weapons, armour and cosmetic equipment, giving Switch 2 players the complete package rather than requiring the DLC to be purchased separately.

The Ascent can be played solo or cooperatively with up to four players. Nintendo lists support for one to four players on a single system and online co-op for two to four players, while GameShare allows local players to join supported sessions. GameChat is also supported, giving Switch 2 owners another way to communicate while playing through the campaign together.

Joy-Con 2 mouse controls are one of the more notable platform-specific additions. The Ascent uses an isometric perspective and relies heavily on directional aiming during firefights, making mouse-style input a potentially natural fit for its combat. Nintendo has been encouraging developers to experiment with the Joy-Con 2 mouse functionality across a variety of genres, with other December releases such as Eriksholm : The Stolen Dream also adopting the control option.

Set on the densely populated world of Veles, The Ascent casts players as an indentured worker living under the control of the powerful Ascent Group corporation. When the company unexpectedly collapses, the resulting power vacuum leaves districts without leadership and allows rival corporations, gangs and other factions to fight for control. Players move through that unrest while uncovering what happened to the organization that previously dominated the planet.

Combat mixes twin-stick-style shooting with RPG progression. Players can aim high or low, take cover, equip different firearms, deploy gadgets and use cybernetic augmentations while fighting through crowded environments. Character builds can be customized through skill points, weapons, armour and cyberware, while the world ranges from industrial lower levels to more affluent corporate districts higher within the arcology.

The game originally launched in 2021 for Xbox and PC before later expanding to PlayStation platforms. Neon Giant says more than 12 million players have entered Veles since release, making the Switch 2 version another significant step in the game’s platform expansion. The studio is now part of Krafton and is also developing its next project, while continuing to support The Ascent through the upcoming Switch 2 launch.

Nintendo’s newer hardware is increasingly attracting complete or expanded versions of games that previously skipped the original Switch. December in particular is becoming crowded with major third-party releases, with Monster Hunter Wilds arriving on Switch 2 on December 4 just days after The Ascent. For The Ascent, the combination of portable play, local GameShare and mouse-style aiming gives the port several features beyond simply moving the existing game onto another platform.

The Switch 2 version will also support touchscreen input in menus, HDR on compatible televisions and surround sound. Nintendo lists the game as a digital release, with Krafton serving as publisher. The company has not announced a physical edition or detailed specific performance targets such as resolution and frame rate.

The Ascent Ultimate Edition launches for Nintendo Switch 2 on December 2, 2026. It includes the base game and all three DLC packs, with support for solo play, four-player co-op, GameShare, GameChat and Joy-Con 2 mouse controls.
