UserJoy has announced that the global version of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel – Northern War will permanently shut down on November 30, 2026, at 14:00 (UTC+8). The closure affects the free-to-play RPG on PC and mobile, ending access to the game roughly two and a half years after its worldwide launch.
The announcement, issued on October 28, confirms that all paid currency top-ups and in-game purchases have already been disabled. Players can continue logging in and accessing existing game content until the scheduled shutdown, after which the servers and associated game services will be taken offline.
The shutdown schedule establishes two dates. Paid transactions were disabled on October 28, 2026, at 14:00 (UTC+8), while the complete service termination is scheduled for November 30 at the same time. That corresponds to 06:00 UTC on both dates.

UserJoy’s announcement thanked players for supporting the global version and confirmed that existing features would remain available during the remaining service period. The company did not provide a specific reason for ending operations or announce an offline version that would allow players to continue accessing the RPG after its servers close.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel – Northern War launched globally on May 29, 2024, following its December 2023 debut in Japan. Based on Nihon Falcom’s Trails franchise and its Northern War anime adaptation, the RPG follows Lavian Winslet, a member of the Northern Jaegers from North Ambria.
Its story takes place between the events of Trails of Cold Steel II and Trails of Cold Steel III, featuring characters from the wider series alongside the anime’s original cast. The game was released internationally for Android, iOS, and PC.
The termination means that players of the global version will lose access to their accounts and existing gameplay content when the servers close on November 30. The announcement specifically concerns Northern War’s global service, rather than the mainline Trails games.
The closure adds to a series of announced online game shutdowns, including Pokémon UNITE's scheduled service termination in March 2027 and Rainbow Six Mobile's planned January 2027 closure. For Northern War players, November 30 marks the final opportunity to access the global version before its permanent shutdown.
